Originally qualifying at the University of Aston in the United Kingdom, Peter Swann was until 2006 Associate Professor in the School of Optometry and Vision Science at the Queensland University of Technology (QUT) in Brisbane, Australia, where he had been a faculty member for 36 years. He now teaches part time at QUT and is a Visiting Professor at the School of Optometry in Hong Kong. His main teaching interests are diseases of the eye and clinical methods of eye examination. Professor Swann has lectured and published extensively in these areas both nationally and internationally. In December 2001, he won an Australian Award for Excellence in University Teaching in the section of biological sciences, health and related studies, and in 2008 an Excellence in Teaching award in the School of Optometry at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University.
